Movie
Writing this title I must think at the Cuban film “Fresa y Chocolate” in 1993, nominated for the Oscar for best non-English language film and won the Goya (price of Spanish cinema) as best foreign Spanish-language film. The film is directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabio. It is the story of the friendship between a young communist and intellectual gay. He takes the decision to escape from Cuba because of the intolerance of the country. “This film,” said Vasilia Papastamatiu “represented a first step in breaking down prejudices and taboos, there came a movement that gave space to those who were different. This was possible because it was a very well-made film, people liked the movie, despite criticism of their own prejudices.”
