HOW SURVIVES A SPANIARD THE SUMMER? 3/5

ABANICO

Hot, hot, hot… There’s nothing better than to allow yourself some fresh air. The first gift my mother gave my father was a abanico. Thus I learned fanning with this abanico amidst the photos. In the summer I always have one with me. You can do it quite fluently, it is an easy technique, but you have to practice it a while. I remember when I was little I practiced it very often.

IMPORTANT
* A good abanico: The rods need not be very tight together. It must be easy to open. How do you know that? By the sound when opening or closing.
* By opening the abanico must basically “fall” open or close by its own weight.
* The fingers that support the abanico, are open to drop it. In closing you drop the abanico in the palm of your hand.
* The dynamics of the fall is given by the wrist. Both, by opening and closing.
